about

Innovators Club

We believe that innovation goes hand-in-hand with collaboration which is why, every year, we create a community within a community in the form of the Innovators Club.

Alongside an official 10-week programme of workshops, mentoring and events, the Innovators Club offers a platform for early-stage life science start-ups working in similar areas to meet each other and share common hardships. Whilst the product or service provided is different, the developmental hurdles that start-ups face are often the same.

We call the Innovators Club a network accelerator programme because one thing is for certain, participating start-ups will expand their network and develop meaningful relationships toboost their business.

Who is it for?

The quick answer? Any early-stage life science company developing great science with a desire to scale and make a real-world impact.

The start-ups that benefit most from the programme are those who are at the pre-seed stage or have raised less than £1m to date as all components are designed for the earlier stages of growth.

Most events and workshops are evening sessions held in person in London so founders must be willing to travel on no more than ten occasions if located elsewhere. Across the 10 weeks, the total time commitment is around 20 hours.

The Innovators Club is open to all start-ups across the life sciences  - one of our only requirements is that you’re a registered company and you are a member of the BioFounder Club.

From revolutionising human health to solving the climate crisis and everything in between, we want to support you

How do I apply

Applications open in June each year and remain open until the end of August. We have a simple application form to complete which asks standard questions around your company and your development plans.

Our team then reviews all applications and creates a shortlist of companies who are invited to a 30 minute interview in August. From there, our team decides on the ~6 companies successful in securing a space on the cohort who are then informed of the good news in August.

The programme typically kicks off in September and runs for 10 weeks through to November each year.

If applications are not currently open, make sure to join the BioEntrepreneur Club here so you'll be first to know when they open next.

Hugo-headshot
"The BioCapital Network have done a tremendous job of becoming the meeting place for life science VCs in the UK. The events they organise are a great opportunity for VCs to catch up on deals, challenge and cross-pollinate theses, as well as useful to expand your professional network. The community is successfully challenging the existing paradigm that VC is an elitist, closed-off profession, hopefully turning it more equitable (no pun intended) and diverse"
Hugo Villanueva, Octopus Ventures
“As a fund with a domain-focus, it is incredibly handy to have acommunity where I can connect with investors that share thesame focus and discuss relevant trends for my industry. TheBioCapital network creates a close-knit environment to sharedeal flow and opinions on the market."
Elisabetta Sakiotis, Rockstart
"It’s been game changing joining the BioCapital Investor Network. The life sciences venture ecosystem is constantly evolving and investor appetite changes accordingly. Having an investor-only network where we can share deal flow, discuss opportunities, and debate market trends has been hugely value additive to me and in my opinion benefits the entire UK life sciences ecosystem as a whole."
Lee Lindley, Mercia Ventures
"The BioCapital Network is a great community for Life Science investors at all career stages. They host a diverse range of events that provide a relaxed and informal setting for networking with investors and peers, while mixer events with founders spotlight early-stage innovations that are great for deal flow. The online platform is a valuable resource for sharing news and tapping into the community's wealth of experience. I look forward to engaging more with this supportive network"
